Frequently Asked Questions
Why is additional truck parking needed?
Commercial vehicle drivers are required to comply with provincial and federal hours-of-service regulations that require mandatory rest periods. The availability of safe and accessible truck parking plays an important role in supporting freight movement across Ontario's transportation network and helps drivers safely meet regulatory requirements.
How can I provide comments?
Comments can be submitted at any time during the study by contacting a member of the project team. Interested persons may also request to be added to the project contact list to receive future project notices and updates. Contact information is available on the Contact Us page of this website.
What happens after the study is completed?
Once the study is completed, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared and made available for public review and comment. Following completion of the Class EA process, the project may proceed to future stages of design, permitting, and implementation, subject to further approvals and funding requirements.
How were the truck parking facility locations selected?
A total of 10 potential sites were considered for the truck parking facilities, including locations in Vaughan, Mississauga, and Brampton. Each site was evaluated based on factors such as its proximity to major highways, available space, surrounding land uses, environmental considerations, and the ability to provide safe access for trucks. The selected locations were identified as the most suitable sites because they best met the project requirements while minimizing potential constraints and impacts.
When will construction begin?
The project is currently in the preliminary design and environmental assessment phase. A construction schedule has not yet been determined. Updates on future project milestones and construction timing will be shared as they become available.
